Fireman Enters Guilty Plea After Apparatus Siren Causes Cattle To Stampede, Kill Man: UK Firefighter Julian Lawford admitted to causing a death by careless driving. Last August, a farmer was killed after the cows he was walking across the road stampeded at the sound of Lawford’s truck siren. More here from Metro.

Pasadena Truck Back On The Streets:  A victim of budget cuts, a four-firefighter ladder truck was taken out of service in Pasadena, California.  The move saved the city $725,000.  Now, the truck is back on the streets.  Read the full story in the Pasadena Star-News here.

Goodbye 1990, Hello 2010:  Holbrook, Massachusetts welcomed its newest apparatus to the department, replacing its 1990 truck.  The Emergency One rescue-pumper, with LED lights for energy-savings, can pump 1,250 gallons per minute.  The Enterprise says it’s state-of-the-art:

The new truck carries advanced life support medical equipment, the “Jaws of Life” hydraulic extrication tools, a 530-gallon water tank, an air bag, a 8,000 watt generator that can provide power for lighting, and a 30 gallon foam tank.

The truck also features a rollout tray with the Jaws equipment in back.

The rear of the truck has been extended to where a running board usually is.

Fire Lt. David Kincus says firefighters had a hand in the design.  The Enterprise’s story describing a tour of the truck and more photos can be found here.

Truck Damaged During Hit & Run:  Authorities in Morgantown, West Virginia, are searching for a hit and run driver who damaged one of the city’s fire trucks.   WBOY-TV says the incident happened Monday morning. A mini van struck the truck from behind, leaving it heavily damaged.   Read more here.
