Stop idling at incidents unless absolutely necessary and make fewer non-emergency trips. Those actions are what officials at the Wichita Fire Department hope will make their fuel budget more realistic with rising costs. Last week, FireTruckBlog told you about the Cape Coral Fire Department’s maintenance troubles. (Previous post is here.) Now, the WZVN reports Lee County won’t fix the fleet after a councilman questioned the report.
“I spoke to a couple of the commissioners. I spoke to a member of the Lee County fleet that told me several days after the report was released that there were inaccuracies in the report,” (Cape Councilman Marty) McClain said during the Monday meeting.
