City of Tonawanda Fire Chief Charles Stuart is reminding his firefighters of city policy after a fire truck was seen at a private party and demonstrating the pump from a hydrant. WGRZ-TV began investigating the story after receiving a tip from a citizen.
Chief Stuart told WGRZ-TV there was a communication breakdown: "We are going to do what we have to do here, make whatever adjustments in our administrative policy, to see that communication breakdown doesn't happen again."
Firefighters are allowed to demonstrate apparatus at sanctioned events approved by the city council and mayor.
