A Winter Park firefighter driving a rig which ran over an 18-year-old bicyclist will not be charged, Florida Highway Patrol Sgt. Raymong Koenig told WESH-TV.
Investigators believe the bicycle Cullen Detamore was riding did not have brakes.
From ClickOrlando.com:
Since Detamore could not stop quickly, witnesses said the teen tried to make a sharp right turn alongside the truck but lost control.
"He took the corner so fast, the tires slipped out from underneath the bike and he went right underneath the truck," said witness Gary Johnson.
The same witness (though he's referred to as Gary Jameson) told WESH-TV:
"He actually sped up like he was trying to avoid the turn to go past the truck," Jameson said. "When he realized that wasn't going to happen, he made the turn probably at 20-plus mph, so fast that the bike slips out from underneath him. That was it."
