Thanks to Michael Schwartzberg for a heads up on Pikesville, Maryland's newest apparatus. The 2010 Spartan Gladiator / Rosenbauer heavy rescue was placed into service on Wednesday, June 8 (see Michael's video above).

Michael also has photos of the ceremony on the Pikesville Volunteer Fire Department's website here.

The rig replaces the department's 20-year-old Freighliner/Saulsbury Heavy Rescue. More about the new Squad 322:

Squad 322 carries a diverse array of specialized rescue equipment such as the revolutionary Holmatro “CORE” Technology™ hydraulic rescue system (“Jaws of Life”), dozens of pieces of wooden cribbing in various shapes and sizes, generators, winches, hi-lift jacks, cranes, cutting torches, circular saws, airbags, and other forms of heavy equipment typically not found on standard fire apparatus such as fire engines (pumpers) that carry water or aerial trucks (ladders). In a tribute to the past, the locomotive train horn, a well-known feature on the old squad among the fire service community, has been mounted atop the new apparatus as well.

A full description is here on Pikesville VFD's website.

Squad 322 responded to its first working incidents on Sunday – a house fire and a building fire. The details and pictures from the fires are here.
